Mamelodi Sundowns Fixtures Rescheduled

The PSL has rescheduled three of Mamelodi Sundowns’ DStv Premiership fixtures to be played later this month and next month.

The postponed matches against TS Galaxy, originally scheduled for 12 November 2023, at Loftus Stadium and 6 March 2024, at Mbombela Stadium, have been given new dates. The first leg will now take place on 29 April at Loftus Stadium, followed by the second leg on 28 May at Mbombela Stadium.

This means the latter game for Sundowns and Galaxy will be played after all league matches have been played, which league the program will end on 25 May.

The initial postponement of the first leg was due to Sundowns’ participation in the African Football League (AFL), which they ultimately won.

Additionally, the PSL has rescheduled Sundowns’ match against Kaizer Chiefs, originally set for Tuesday, 30 April 2024, at FNB Stadium. The match will now be played at the same venue and time (19:30) on 2 May.

Sundowns’ demanding schedule stems from a fixture clash. CAF announced AFL fixtures in September, after the PSL had already released its own schedule for the season. This caused scheduling conflicts for Sundowns, leading to tensions with the league and other clubs.

Despite the challenges, Sundowns remain in a strong position. They need just six points to secure the DStv Premiership title, are in the CAF Champions League semi-finals (aiming to overturn a deficit against ES Esperance on Friday), and will face Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals next month.
