Mokhoye Enthused By Saleng’s Addition

Orbit College coach Pogiso Mokhoye believes that new loan signing Monnapule Saleng will be a valuable asset, citing his experience and understanding of the team’s culture.

Saleng has returned to his former club on loan from Orlando Pirates after a challenging period where he struggled for game time and reportedly had issues with management. The 27-year-old attacker joins the newly promoted side to bolster the squad with his elite-league experience ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Mokhoye stated that Saleng’s return is a significant boost for the team.

“Monnapule Saleng brings a lot of experience,” said Mokhoye.

“He left the team as a young boy; he is coming as a leader now, he understands the culture, he understands the team, and he understands his teammates.

Furthermore, Mokhoye added that the new six signings understand the culture and style of play of the team.

“Even the players that we brought, we brought players that had understood the culture, and they understand our philosophy,” said Mokhoye.

Makhoye also addressed the difficulties of the play-offs, considering that they had two weeks to prepare. 

The newbies side will face AmaZulu in their first game in the Betway Premiership 2025/26 season at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday (15:00). 

“Very difficult because we got only two weeks to prepare because we had to give players a rest,” Makhoye stated. 

“But we had to go through it because we didn’t win the league outright, so we knew we had to go through the playoffs, and then we knew those were the challenges that we had to go through.

“But the boys are coming all right because we’ve been together for the past four years, so it’s not like a new team.”
