MTN8 Semi-finals Draw To Be Held On Sunday
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the MTN8 semifinal draw will take place immediately after the final quarterfinal match on Sunday.
The last remaining quarterfinals will be contested between Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City at Lucas Moripe Stadium (15:00). Sundowns will be looking to avoid an upset against the Rise and Shine.
This game will be played before Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City had faced each other in the other semi final at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (15:00).
Defending champions Orlando Pirates have already secured their place in the semifinals after defeating SuperSport United 3-1 in extra time at Orlando Stadium last Saturday. They were joined by Stellenbosch FC, who overcame TS Galaxy by the same scoreline at Danie Craven Stadium the following day.
“The MTN8 semifinal draw will take place this Sunday afternoon, directly after the MTN8 quarterfinal clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City at Lucas Moripe Stadium,” the PSL announced in a statement on Thursday.
“The draw will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL channel (202) and SABC 1.”
Draw Procedure:
- A single bowl containing four balls (with the names of each semifinalist) will be used.
- The first ball drawn will determine the home team for the first fixture.
- The second ball will determine the away team for the first fixture.
- The third ball will determine the home team for the second fixture.
- The fourth ball will determine the away team for the second fixture.
- Both semifinal ties will be played over two legs on a home-and-away basis.
The PSL will confirm the venue for the MTN8 final once the finalists are determined.
