Spurs Reject Multi-Million Rands Deal For Butsaka

Sportswire has been informed that Cape Town Spurs are adopting a tough stance regarding the transfer of captain Chumani Butsaka.

According to sources, Stellenbosch FC has made a R4 million offer for the 22-year-old, which has been rejected by Spurs. Anonymous sources have accused the club of discriminatory practices, alleging that they are tougher on black players compared to their colored counterparts.

“Stellenbosch FC offered R4 million, but Spurs demanded R10 million,” said an insider. “This is a clear example of the double standards we’ve seen at Spurs for years when it comes to black players.”

The source further claimed that the club’s treatment of former players Cecil Lolo, Kegan Johannes, and Grant Magerman was similarly problematic.

“They refused to sell Cecil Lolo to Kaizer Chiefs and few people within the management attended his funeral,” the insider alleged. “Kegan Johannes had to threaten retirement before they agreed to sell him. Grant Magerman had to issue an ultimatum before they relented.”

While acknowledging Spurs’ desire to retain their best players for a potential Premiership return, having been relegated last season, the source argued that Butsaka deserves a move after a decade at the club.

“They want R10 million for Butsaka, it’s unbelievable. This is just because he’s black,” the source claimed. “His mother had to attend a meeting because she doesn’t speak English well, and the agent was excluded.”

The source also mentioned that young player Khaya Mfecane has rejected a five-year contract offer from Spurs, opting for a two-year deal instead.

Contrary to reports, Stellenbosch FC is not the only club interested in Butsaka. Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are also monitoring the situation. A potential breakthrough might occur in a meeting between Spurs chairman Ari Esthathou and Stellenbosch fc CEO Rob Benadie.

Asanele Velebhayi is another player facing similar difficulties at Spurs, with the club reportedly playing hardball with Chiefs over a potential transfer.

Despite these issues, Spurs have successfully sold Rushwin Dortley to Chiefs for over R4 million. Sportswire has contacted Spurs’ CEO Alexi Esthathou, but did not answer his phone.
