Nabi: We Are Going Through Bad Luck

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has attributed his team’s recent struggles to a period of bad luck, citing their difficulty in securing positive results.
Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership match at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. Wandile Duba gave Chiefs the lead with a close-range finish in the 36th minute. However, their failure to clear the ball allowed Mlungisi Mbunjana to capitalize on a loose ball, securing an 80th-minute equalizer for Galaxy.
This draw extends Chiefs’ winless streak to four matches, placing coach Nabi under increasing pressure at the Soweto giants.
“We need to take game by game,” said Nabi.
“The players did everything they could to get the good result. I feel like we are going through a moment of bad luck because of the lack of results.”
The draw leaves Chiefs eighth in the Betway Premiership table with 30 points from 24 matches, one point behind ninth-placed Chippa United, whom they will face at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in two weeks.
“We are going to hang in there (around the top eight) and everyone has to push more, to work hard,” continued Nabi.
“We are pretty sure that the luck is going to come back, and we will see where we will finish at the end of the season.”
Chiefs now face a crucial Nedbank Cup semifinal against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium this Sunday.
This cup represents their only chance to end a 10-year trophy drought. However, overcoming Sundowns, who have defeated them in their last five encounters across all competitions, including three this season, presents a significant challenge.
