Ndlovu Fulfills Father’s Dream By Joining Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs’ new midfielder, Siphesihle Ndlovu, has spoken about his long-held dream of joining the club, a dream he shared with his father.

Ndlovu, who joined the Soweto Giants from SuperSport United (Siwelele) during the off-season, revealed he had come close to signing for the club on a few occasions in the past.

The 29-year-old was previously linked to Chiefs while playing for Maritzburg United but was instead signed by Orlando Pirates before the 2019/20 season.

He even scored against Chiefs in a Soweto Derby at Orlando Stadium during the 2020/21 season, a match played without fans, at Orlando Stadium.

However, Ndlovu struggled to secure a regular spot at Pirates and was loaned to SuperSport United for the 2022/23 season, a move that was made permanent the following season.

In a statement on the Chiefs’ website, Ndlovu shared his excitement. “It was my father’s dream for me to play for the club he has always supported, and since the age of about 17 or 18, I have wanted to fulfill that ambition. Right now, he is very happy and so excited, which means the world to me,” he said.

“A while back I missed out on a chance to come here, so I told myself I would still work hard to hopefully get the opportunity again. When it did come, I was thrilled to finally sign for Amakhosi.”

Ndlovu, who was named the PSL Midfielder of the Season in 2017/18 and has represented the national team, Bafana Bafana, has already made his mark for Chiefs. He scored his first goal for the club in their recent midweek victory against Polokwane City.

Chiefs are currently joint-top of the Betway Premiership with six points from two matches.

Reflecting on his goal, Ndlovu said, “It was a great feeling. Everyone who played in the first half did their jobs, so it was up to those of us who came on to finish it. That’s why the goal is special for me, because it came at the right time. That’s what I call ‘making your mark’.”
