Orlando Pirates have made a significant addition to their squad ahead of the new season, confirming the signing of Deano van Rooyen from Stellenbosch FC.

The 27-year-old defender has penned a three-year contract with the Soweto giants, which includes an option for a further two years.

Van Rooyen’s arrival is a timely boost for Pirates, who will be competing in the CAF Champions League next season after finishing second in the DStv Premiership. The club has been looking to strengthen their defensive options, particularly with injuries to key players like Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu.
