Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup Final Shared After Waterlogged Pitch

The Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup final between AmaZulu and Nsingizini Hotspurs was abandoned and ultimately shared after the pitch at the Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium became waterlogged on Sunday.
Heavy rain in Durban and across northern KwaZulu-Natal, which had been pouring down since Saturday night, left the playing surface unplayable and forced the organisers to call off the match.
AmaZulu were the first team to book their place in the final after defeating defending champions Njampela 2–1 in the opening semi-final at the Ulundi venue. Tebogo Mashego cancelled out Sbongiseni Mdluli’s opener before Elmo Kambindu, the Namibian striker, scored the winner.
They were joined in the final by Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs, who edged Richards Bay 6–5 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.
The Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup has become a key fixture on KwaZulu-Natal’s sporting calendar, attracting growing interest from across the province and beyond.
The tournament is held in honour of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, a revered statesman, visionary leader, and founder of the IFP, who passed away in 2023.
