Ramovic Blasts The PSL About Playing On The Terrible Pitch
TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic has lambasted the PSL for allowing his team to play on a “disgrace pitch” during their MTN8 quarterfinal against Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday.
Galaxy suffered a 3-1 defeat to Stellies, but the playing surface was in a deplorable condition due to heavy rain in Cape Town over the past few weeks. Large patches of the pitch were bare, and the ball was bouncing unpredictably.
Ramovic added that the PSL can increase the MTN8 prize money to R100 million, he doesn’t care because they are neglecting the most important thing – the pitch conditions. “You come to a game where probably a cow can break its leg on such a pitch,” said Ramovic.
“I asked myself of course how the PSL can allow games to be played in such field like this? Now, they increased the MTN8 prize money, they can increase until its R100 million, they have to start to fix the fields and not to allow my players, a professional team that can play on the field like this? It’s a disgrace, amazing again.”
The coach questioned why fans would attend matches if the pitches were so poor. “You can’t even complete a simple pass,” he added.
“How can we play in such a pitch and you ask yourself why the supporters don’t come to watch the games, they should come and see this?”
Galaxy, making their MTN8 debut after a top-eight finish, endured a disastrous day, which Ramovic attributed to the pitch conditions. “Everyone saw we tried and long passes because you cannot play,” he continued.
“But all in all, it is not about that we lost and we make excuses, I will say it anyway even if we win games, it’s about the principle. They want everything to be on top, but this is amazing and actually nothing more to say about it.”
