Richards Bay Sign Mutizwa

Richards Bay has signed veteran striker Knox Mutizwa, who was a free agent after leaving Golden Arrows last season.

Mutizwa was released by Arrows before the end of the last season after the club suspended and then terminated his contract. The Zimbabwean-born striker was let go along with Thabani Zuke in May due to misconduct.

Mutizwa and Zuke had been previously suspended for similar misconduct. As their behavior did not improve, the club decided to terminate their contracts with immediate effect.

Notably, Mutizwa left Arrows as the club’s all-time leading scorer with 63 goals in 231 appearances. His last goal came in a 2-1 victory against Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium in March, which was his third goal in 14 matches across all competitions last season.

Mutizwa will be reunited with Zuke, who Richards Bay signed during the off-season. Zuke was named Man of the Match when they drew with Siwelele away on Friday.

The 31-year-old striker is joining the Natal Rich Boyz, who are currently 12th in the Betway Premiership table with four points after five matches, having lost three, drawn one, and won one.

The club’s next fixture will be against TS Galaxy at Umhlathuze Stadium on 17 September.
