Sekhukhune New Coach Might Resign, Seema Might Be Back
Sekhukhune United’s newly appointed coach, Peter Hyballa, may be on the brink of departure before even taking charge of his first match.
The club is reportedly considering rehiring Lehlohonolo Seema as a potential replacement because they are not pulling in the same direction.
Hyballa was brought in to replace Seema at the end of June, following the latter’s dismissal. Seema’s termination stemmed from the rumour that he requested for a new contract before the season concluded, a demand that angered the club’s management.
Despite this, Sekhukhune secured a top-four finish, their highest finish in the club’s history, setting up an MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Cape Town City.
Intriguingly, Hyballa fulfilled media duties on Tuesday ahead of the match, while assistant coach McDonald Makhubebu took charge of training, according to Sportswire sources. This unusual arrangement has fueled speculation about Hyballa’s imminent exit.
If confirmed, he would become the third coach to leave the club before the Betway Premiership had started, following in the footsteps of Dylan Kerr at Marumo Gallants.
Kerr’s brief 28-day tenure at Gallants ended abruptly due to disagreements over a coaching partnership. Meanwhile, Richards Bay also parted ways with coach Vusi Vilakazi on Monday, although an official statement is yet to be released.
The rapid turnover of coaches in the DStv Premiership is a cause for concern, highlighting the instability within some clubs.
