Sibisi: Pirates Urgently Need Fan Support For Champions League Success

Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi has emphasized the crucial role of fan support in their final push for the CAF Champions League, citing its significance to the team’s success.

The Pirates secured a narrow 1-0 victory against MC Alger in Algeria during the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinal last week.

Furthermore, a goal from Sibisi in their recent Betway Premiership match against Polokwane City on Sunday reduced their deficit to log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to 12 points.

The Soweto Giants are also in the Nedbank Cup semi final and they will face Marumo Gallants at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

Sibisi appealed to their fans to attend their upcoming matches in large numbers to bolster the team’s chances.

“The crowd, they were playing their part, they’re helping us, and we’d like to say thank you to them for coming in numbers,” Sibisi stated.
“We’re going to need them in this final push of this season. So we just keep on asking them to please come and support us in their numbers.”

The Bafana Bafana defender, a key player for both the national team and Pirates, expressed satisfaction with the three points and clean sheet achieved against Polokwane City.

“Yeah, very, very difficult side, you know. Polokwane City. I think they’ve shown that they’re not an easy team to play, especially at home,” he admitted.

“Their front they were running the whole game, but I’m glad we managed to keep the clean sheet and get the three points,” he added.

Pirates will host MC Alger in the second leg at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday at 18:00.
