Sirino Set To Leave Naturena After Contract Decision

Sportswire has reliably learned that Kaizer Chiefs have decided to part ways with experienced midfielder Gastón Sirino after opting not to renew his contract, which is set to expire at the end of June.

The 35-year-old joined the Phefeni Glamour Boys in 2024 on a free transfer after Mamelodi Sundowns parted ways with him following a successful six-year spell at the club. Sirino had arrived at the African champions in January 2018 and went on to enjoy a trophy-laden period before making the move to Naturena, where he signed a two-year deal with Amakhosi.

With his current contract nearing its conclusion, Sportswire has been reliably informed that Chiefs have already communicated their decision to Sirino’s representatives and will not be extending the Uruguayan midfielder’s stay beyond June.

Despite his relatively short spell at Naturena, Sirino leaves with several memorable moments. During his first season at the club, he played a key role in helping Amakhosi end their 10-year trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup in 2025.

The midfielder enjoyed an outstanding campaign and capped it off by scoring in the final against Orlando Pirates. His performances throughout the tournament also earned him a nomination for the Player of the Tournament award, which was ultimately won by Pule Mmodi.

Sirino also made an important contribution during the recently concluded season, helping Chiefs secure a return to the top eight and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the league standings.

In total, the experienced midfielder made 52 appearances across all competitions for Amakhosi, scoring five goals and providing eight assists during his two-year stay at the club.

His departure marks the end of a brief but impactful spell at Naturena, where he played a significant role in the club’s resurgence and return to continental competition.
