Sithebe: We Are Concerned About Chiefs’ Form

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe expressed concern about the team’s performance in 2024, where they have only won one league game so far.
Sithebe, who has started just three league matches thus far, saw their previous game to Chippa United, dropping them down the table.
“Obviously we are concerned,” Sithebe acknowledged. “Especially when we look at some of the games where we created a lot of opportunities, but couldn’t convert them. As players, we need to work harder and improve our finishing in the remaining games.”
The Soweto giants currently sit in 8th place with 30 points after 23 matches. They face relegation-threatened Richards Bay in one of their six remaining matches this coming weekend.
Looking ahead to the clash, Sithebe recognizes the importance of bouncing back. He emphasizes the need for full commitment against Richards Bay, regardless of their position in the standings.
“They’re fighting for survival at the bottom of the table, so it’s going to be a tough match,” Sithebe said. “But we need those points just as much and will be going all out to win.”
Furthermore, he reiterates the team’s ambition to secure a top-eight finish and qualify for a CAF competition next season.
Despite recent setbacks, Sithebe emphasizes the team’s responsibility to reward their loyal fans with a strong performance.
“After the disappointing recent results, it’s important for us to give the fans something to cheer about,” he said. “They always support us, even when we’re not winning.”
Having already missed out on the MTN 8, Nedbank Cup, and unlikely to challenge for the league title, Chiefs only have the remainder of the season to salvage something from this year’s campaign. Their last silverware came in 2015.
