Soweto Derby Tickets Sold Out
Kaizer Chiefs has confirmed that tickets for their highly anticipated match against Orlando Pirates have sold out.
The two Soweto giants are scheduled to clash at FNB Stadium on 3 May.
This upcoming encounter will mark the 182nd derby between the two Soweto clubs, with Chiefs having recorded 74 victories and Pirates 48. There have also been 54 draws and five abandoned matches in the history of this fierce rivalry.
Historically, Chiefs have been the more prolific side in derby matches, having scored 230 goals compared to Pirates’ 197.
However, in their most recent encounter on 1 February, Orlando Pirates emerged victorious, with Patrick Maswanganyi scoring a late penalty in the 96th minute at the Calabash.
Interestingly, these two sides are also set to meet again just a week later in the Nedbank Cup final on 10 May at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. That match is also expected to sell out within hours, given that it is a final.
