Stellenbosch Further Bolsters Squad With New Signing

Stellenbosch continues to strengthen its team, with the acquisition of Mthetheleli Mthiyane from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC.

Milford FC confirmed Mthiyane’s transfer to Stellies ahead of the upcoming season.

Mthiyane joins a list of new recruits for Stellenbosch, including Muzomuhle Khanyi from Hungry Lions, Henri Stanic from Balzan FC, and Siviwe Nkwali from Cape Town Spurs.

Additionally, coach Steve Barker’s side has promoted Simthandile Sishi from their development squad.

Milford FC extended their well wishes to Mthiyane in a statement: “We would like to wish Mthetheleli Mthiyane all the best for the future in his next adventure in life as he makes a move to Stellenbosch FC. Thank you for your dedication and the love you’ve shown everyone at Milford FC. Farewell and Good luck, Stallions.”

While Mthiyane arrives, Stellies has seen the departure of several key players during the off-season. These include Sihle Nduli to Orlando Pirates, Fawaaz Basadien to Mamelodi Sundowns, Oliver Toure to FC Baniyas, Tylon Smith to QPR, and Faiz Abrahams to H. Kfar Saba.

The club also released Liam De Kock, who has since joined Durban City on a free transfer, along with Brian Onyango, Thulani Mini, and Shaakir Ahmed.

Mthiyane will be looking to make his mark when Stellies kicks off their 2025/26 season against AmaZulu in the MTN8 quarter-finals. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 PM at DHL Stadium.
