Sukazi Reacts To Ex-Galaxy Trio In Bafana World Cup

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi says the inclusion of former club starlets Khulumani Ndamane, Samukelo Kabini, and Kamogelo Sebelebele in Bafana Bafana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad completely vindicates the club’s youth development philosophy.

Former TS Galaxy stars Ndamane, Kabini, and Sebelebele were included in Hugo Broos’ 26-man squad for the global showpiece and are set to represent South Africa in Mexico.

The trio has enjoyed remarkable progress since leaving the Mpumalanga-based club. Ndamane recently won the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns, Sebelebele completed a domestic treble-winning campaign with Orlando Pirates, while Kabini has established himself as a regular starter in Norway at Molde.

Their inclusion in the national team squad has delighted Sukazi, who believes it reflects the work Galaxy has done in developing players capable of succeeding at the highest level.

“I’m happy. One of the things, as TS Galaxy president and chairman, is that throughout the history of our development structures, some players have gone on to make it,” Sukazi said.

“Kamogelo Sebelebele, Khulumani Ndamane and Samukelo Kabini — these players were playing together at TS Galaxy Football Club not so long ago.

“I have always said that we are a club duty-bound to produce players of international standard for the good of the game and for the benefit of our national teams at the highest level. What we are seeing now vindicates those claims.

“These players have proven themselves at levels above where they were when they left us. Ndamane has just won the Champions League with Sundowns, Sebelebele has played consistently this season under immense pressure, and Kabini has passed the test in Europe. To be fair, Norway is not an easy country to play in, yet he has become a regular there.

“So, this makes me very happy, and a lot of credit must go to the leadership of the game. We also have to acknowledge the NSL. The league has produced great players from whom the national team continues to benefit.”

Sukazi also voiced his support for the squad selected by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, describing it as the strongest team available from the preliminary group of players under consideration.

“This is the best squad Hugo Broos could have selected under the circumstances, considering that he had already named a preliminary squad of 32 players,” he added.

“He could only choose from those 32, and that’s the reality of the situation.

“However, on balance, I think it is a very good squad. It represents the best that South Africa currently has to offer, and I’m sure the boys will go there with confidence. I believe there could be a surprise element from South Africa at the World Cup.”

Bafana Bafana have been drawn in Group A alongside co-hosts Mexico, Czechia, and South Korea. South Africa will begin their World Cup campaign against Mexico on 11 June, with former Galaxy trio Ndamane, Sebelebele, and Kabini all hoping to make their mark on football’s biggest stage.
