Betway Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns have agreed to terminate the contract of Moroccan defender Abdemounaim Boutouil.

Boutouil joined the Brazilians in September 2022 from SCC Mohamedia, becoming the first Moroccan player to join a PSL club.

“The Yellow Nation thanks you for your services AB! Wishing you the best on your future endeavors,” Sundowns said in a statement.

He joined Ka Bo Yellow on a three-year deal with an option to extend for another two years. Last season, he appeared in only eight league matches and made six appearances in Sundowns’ successful league campaign, including the African Football League.

In total, the left-footed center-back won two league titles and the African Football League with the Tshwane giants.

As reported last month, the defender is set to sign a two-year contract with Wydad Athletic Club, reuniting with former Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena.

Mokwena has also signed Cassius Mailula from Toronto FC on loan. The two worked together at Sundowns before Mokwena left to join the MLS side.
