Sundowns Extend Mokoena’s Contract
Mamelodi Sundowns have secured the long-term future of midfielder Teboho Mokoena by extending his contract until 2029.
The move comes after months of speculation linking the 2022/23 PSL Footballer of the Year with a departure from the club.
In a brief statement on Twitter, Sundowns expressed their delight at retaining Mokoena’s services. The midfielder, who was also named in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Year, joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in 2021.
Since his arrival, Mokoena has been a pivotal figure for the club, often captaining the side in the absence of Themba Zwane. He has helped Sundowns win three league titles, a Nedbank Cup, and the CAF Champions League, scoring 16 goals in 92 appearances.
