Team KZN Secures Top Three Finish At National School Sport Summer Games
Team KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has concluded a stellar sporting year by securing third place overall at the 2025 National School Sport Summer Games Championships.
The prestigious event, which took place this past weekend across venues in Ekurhuleni and Kempton Park, featured the brightest young athletic talents from all nine provinces.
A Weekend of Excellence in Gauteng
Competing in the final leg of the national school sports calendar, KZN’s student-athletes demonstrated remarkable skill and resilience. The Summer Games served as the ultimate testing ground for several sporting codes, including gymnastics, goalball, softball, and table tennis. KZN’s bronze-position finish nationally is a testament to the rigorous training and dedication of the learners, coaches, and support staff who traveled to Gauteng to represent the province.
While the Western Cape took the top spot followed by Gauteng in second, KZN’s consistent performance across the weekend ensured they remained a dominant force on the national stage.
Building on Provincial Success
This achievement follows a strong showing earlier in the year during the Winter Games hosted in Durban, where KZN athletes excelled in football and netball. The transition to the summer codes in Ekurhuleni saw the province maintain its momentum, proving that KZN’s school sport development strategy is yielding high-level results across diverse disciplines.
The Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture, alongside provincial education officials, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the team.
