Titus Pledges Long-Term Commitment With Stellies

Stellenbosch attacker Devin Titus has expressed his deep gratitude and loyalty to the Cape Winelands club, saying he is thrilled to be part of the team and has no plans to leave, reaffirming his commitment to the club’s success.

Titus’ loyalty is particularly notable given that several of his former teammates have moved on to South Africa’s “big three” clubs.

Ashley du Preez and Zitha Kwinika joined Kaizer Chiefs, Deano van Rooyen and André de Jong signed for Orlando Pirates, while Iqraam Rayners, Jayden Adams and Fawaz Basadien moved to Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I’m very happy to be a Stellenbosch player, it’s my boyhood club,” Titus said.

“No team wanted me when I started playing, but Stellenbosch was there. I’m just grateful and happy to be a Stellenbosch player, and I don’t know everything about those rumours that there were teams that wanted to sign me.

“I’m loyal to Stellenbosch, so I’m staying at Stellenbosch, and I’ve renewed my contract, and I have to be the Devin Titus that Stellenbosch signed.”

The 24-year-old attacker has had a successful stint with Stellenbosch, playing 153 games, scoring 33 goals, and assisting 15 goals.

The Stellies’ Academy graduate was promoted to the first team of Stellies in the 2020/21 season, where he played only one game.

Titus also helped the team win their first trophy as they won the Carling Knockout in 2023, and also helped his team qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history in the 2024/25 season.

Turning his attention to the Nedbank Cup Last 32 draw, Titus reacted to Stellenbosch’s upcoming clash against Kaizer Chiefs.

“Last season it has passed, now it’s a different fixture, a different Stellenbosch team compared to last season,” Titus added, as Stellies lost to Chiefs in the quarter finals.

“So, we can expect something more from Stellenbosch now. You know it’s a love-hate relationship between Stellenbosch and Kaizer Chiefs. It’s a pleasure meeting  Kaizer Chiefs; they’ve been beating us, but we won last time [Carling Knockout].

“But I think the Nedbank Cup is a different fixture compared to the league and other competitions.”

The date, kickoff time and venue for the highly anticipated encounter between Stellies and Amakhosi are yet to be confirmed.
