Toure: I Have One Season With Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch defender, Ismail Toure, remains uncertain about his future with the club.
Toure confirmed that he has one more year remaining on his contract with Stellies, which expires at the end of the 2026 season.
The 26-year-old was linked with a move to both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates during the off-season. However, due to foreign quota restrictions at both clubs, a transfer was not feasible.
The failed transfer attempts seemed to affect Toure’s mindset, as he was initially left out of the team, including the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round match against Nsingizini Hotspurs, at the start of this season. Coach Steve Barker cited Toure’s desire to move to Europe as the reason for his omission.
Stellenbosch CEO, Rob Benadie, also acknowledged Toure’s ambition to play abroad, confirming that a move to either Chiefs or Pirates was not possible.
When asked about his future, Toure stated to Sportswire, “With Stellenbosch, I have one more year left on my contract.”
His limited English language skills made it difficult to extract clear answers.
When pressed about his long-term goals, including a potential move to one of the “Big Three” clubs, Toure reiterated his commitment to Stellenbosch while expressing his desire to play in Europe.
Regarding the specific interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Toure simply stated, “I have one more year with Stellenbosch.”
Since joining Stellies from Marumo Gallants at the start of last season, Toure has made 85 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. His goal in the Carling Knockout Cup final against TS Galaxy played a crucial role in the club’s historic trophy win.
