Truter Lands In Durban
Incoming Richards Bay coach Brandon Truter has landed in Durban to take over the reins at the KwaZulu-Natal club.
Truter arrived at King Shaka International Airport at 13:00 on Wednesday, accompanied by his agent Basia Michaels.
He replaces Vusi Vilakazi, who was dismissed by the club on Monday. Vilakazi had guided Bay to safety via the PSL relegation/promotion playoffs last season, with the club keen to extending his contract beyond its June expiration date. However, a change of heart from the club led to a mutual parting of ways.
Truter, former AmaZulu coach, returns to Bay, where he previously coached between July 2018 and September 2019 during their Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign. The landscape has changed significantly since his departure, with the club securing a R100 million sponsorship from Phakwe Gas last month.
The club has also strengthened its squad with experienced players, raising expectations for a top-four finish next season, a target set by Phakwe Gas CEO Thabiso Tenyane.
