Williams Bags A Huge Ambassadorial Deal

Dubbed South Africa’s number one goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams has scooped a brand-new deal as an official brand ambassador of a tasty food franchise, Tasty Gallos.

The Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns skipper, Williams, is the Official Brand Ambassador, Tasty Gallos, as announced by the company.

Tasty Gallos is one of South Africa’s fastest growing and most cost-effective chicken franchises (starting at R1.35m, excluding VAT).

MC Alger coach Khaled Ben Yahia is anticipating a tough match against Orlando Pirates, who are unbeaten in CAF Champions League, but he feels they have all the tools to win.

The brand has now officially partnered with the award-winning Gqeberha-born shot-stopper in an exciting brand ambassador agreement.

In addition, this groundbreaking collaboration aims to elevate brand credibility, drive in-store traffic, and attract franchise investors while also exposing the keeper to many football lovers.

Williams, known for his leadership and excellence on the field, will bring the same energy to Tasty Gallos through exclusive meet-and-greet appearances, social media campaigns, and brand activations.

The Strategic Partnership for Growth: Following this partnership between Tasty Gallos and the 33-year-old Bafana skipper will see him actively engaging with Tasty Gallos® customers and fans through in-store Events & Meet-and-Greets, Limited-Edition ‘Captain’s Choice’ Meal Promotions, Social Media Campaigns & Exclusive Digital Content as well as Strategic Franchise Expansion Awareness.

In his reaction after the announcement of his ambassadorial role, the two-time Betway Premiership title winner with Masandawana expressed delight in his role as a perfect combination. “Tasty Gallos is a proudly homegrown brand, and I’m thrilled to be part of their journey,” says Williams, who is fresh from helping Sundowns to overcome ES Esperance in the CAF Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night in Tunisia.

Since Williams joined Sundowns ahead of the 2022/23 season from SuperSport United, his stock has massively grown.

He enjoyed a stellar year in 2024, contributing significantly to both club and country. He played a crucial role in Bafana Bafana’s bronze medal finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, earning him the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award and a place in the Team of the Tournament.

At club level, he guided Sundowns to victory in the inaugural African Football League, being named the Player of the Tournament. He also clinched the PSL Footballer of the Year award, becoming only the third goalkeeper to achieve this feat after Andre Arendse and Itumeleng Khune.

Williams received global recognition, being shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or Yachine Trophy, awarded to the world’s best goalkeeper. Although he ultimately lost to Emiliano Martinez, he became the first African goalkeeper to be nominated for this prestigious award.

He was also nominated for the FIFA FIFPro World XI but did not make the final cut.

At the 2024 CAF Awards, Williams garnered significant recognition, winning both the CAF Inter Club Player of the Season and the CAF Player of the Year (Based in Africa) awards.

While he narrowly missed out on the main CAF Footballer of the Year award, which went to Ademola Lookman, his achievements were undeniable.
