Zwane Raises Fatigue Concerns Ahead Of Arrows Clash

AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has voiced concerns over player fatigue as his side prepares for a quick turnaround against Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership.

Usuthu will face Arrows at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday, just four days after suffering a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Richards Bay at Richards Bay Stadium on Friday.

Despite the setback, AmaZulu remain inside the top eight, sitting fifth on the Premiership table with 21 points from 13 matches.

Zwane, the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor, admitted the short recovery period between matches makes preparation for the second KwaZulu-Natal derby extremely challenging.

“Very difficult, we played with our chances on Friday. We thought we were going to get something and see how we manage ourselves because you look at how we played, not happy obviously,” said Zwane.

“Now we are going to another game that is actually difficult in three days. We are playing on Tuesday, a game that is supposed to take place on Wednesday. So that means now our turnaround time in terms of recovery is not going to be enough, and it is another team that is hard runners and very good technically, and the last game they played was on 23 November [when Arrows lost to TS Galaxy].

“So they will come to us fresh, and we are not fresh, but we are going to have to come up with a plan that is football,” Zwane stated.

Zwane added that his team did not show any intention to win the game in their defeat against Richards.

“Only one team was playing. We did not come to the party, we did not show any hunger, we won the game before it even started. We thought it was going to be easy,” said Zwane.
