Zwane Extends Sundowns Contract

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that their captain, Themba Zwane, has extended his contract with the club until 2026.
Zwane’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, following Sundowns’ decision to exercise an option on one of their legendary players from the PSL era at the beginning of this term.
Despite the contract extension, Zwane is currently recovering from a serious injury.
He sustained an ACL injury while on international duty with Bafana Bafana during the FIFA break in October, in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo.
However, he has since returned to training with the Brazilians, and it is anticipated that he will soon be available to play for Sundowns, who are currently aiming for an unprecedented eighth consecutive league title.
Zwane, who has only featured in two league matches this season due to the injury, has played a remarkable 411 matches for Sundowns, scoring 80 goals and providing 60 assists.
“Mshishi,” as Zwane is affectionately known, has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the club, winning eight league titles, one MTN8 trophy, two Carling Knockout Cups, three Nedbank Cups, one CAF Champions League title, one CAF Super Cup, and the recent African Football League trophy.
