Stellies Vs Chiefs Game Sees Tickets Sold Out

Stellenbosch has confirmed that tickets for their opening Betway Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs are sold out.
Stellenbosch will host Chiefs at Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon. They’ll be looking for a chance at redemption after suffering three losses to the Chiefs last season.
Chiefs dominated their encounters with Stellenbosch last year, winning both league matches and knocking them out of the Nedbank Cup quarter-final before going on to win the competition.
The upcoming match was originally scheduled to be held at DHL Stadium, but it was moved to Athlone Stadium because the DHL Stadium’s surface was in an unplayable condition.
The pitch had a lot of sand on it when Stellenbosch played AmaZulu in the MTN8 quarter-finals last weekend.
As a result, the PSL, in agreement with both clubs, decided to relocate the game to the smaller Athlone Stadium.
Despite the fact that the Springboks Ladies had played New Zealand there in a homecoming test match just last week, the pitch at Athlone Stadium appeared to be in good shape to host a major game.
This will be the second consecutive game involving a Soweto-based giant to be played in front of a sold-out crowd. Last weekend, Orlando Pirates played in front of a sold-out crowd at Orlando Stadium against Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-finals, where they won 2-0.
The Pirates’ opening league match against Sekhukhune United on Saturday might also be played in front of a sold-out crowd in Soweto.
