Allende Excited By Title Triumph

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende is elated following his team’s eighth consecutive Betway Premiership victory, secured with a game to spare.
Sundowns clinched their eighth league title and 15th overall in the PSL era after a decisive 3-0 win against Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium on Wednesday, a match in which Allende was named Man of the Match.
Adding to their accomplishments, Sundowns are preparing for the significant CAF Champions League final, which will be played over two legs this month and next against Egyptian side Pyramids.
“It’s a nice feeling, you know,” said Allende, who celebrated his third league title with Sundowns.
“It’s like champions this week. It’s a different feeling. With the team, we’re so proud, so happy, and congratulations to all Mamelodi, all the club, all the supporters. So we’re here, champs.”
Sundowns will conclude their league campaign against Magesi at Loftus Stadium on Sunday [17:30], where they will officially lift the new Betway Premiership trophy.
The 26-year-old acknowledged that the match against Magesi would be challenging, recalling their surprise Carling Black Label Cup victory over Sundowns, which marked their first major trophy since their promotion.
“I think I don’t know if it’s revenge, but we always play to win,” Allende stated.
“Sundowns, we play for a win. We know they’re strong. We played two games against them; both games were tough. We lost the final, in the league we won 2-1, and they’re starting to win the games, so it’s a tough game.
“We’re taking it very seriously, and as I said in the question before, we’re preparing for the final CAF and winning, of course. Winning is the best feeling the players can have.”
