AmaZulu Removes Dladla From Technical Team Following Alleged Rift

AmaZulu President Sandile Zungu has confirmed the immediate removal of Simo Dladla from the technical team.

While Dladla remains on the payroll until his contract expires in June, he will have zero involvement in day-to-day operations or matchdays.

Dladla was absent from the bench when Usuthu drew 2-2 with Sekhukhune United in a Betway Premiership match at Princess Magogo Stadium on Monday. Head coach Arthur Zwane was assisted by Siboniso Vilakazi.

After the match, Zwane hinted at Dladla’s departure from the technical set-up.

“…when things don’t go our way, the buck stops with me,” Zwane said.

“My head is on the chopping block, and I have to make decisions, with the support of others — that is very key.

“What I’m saying is that the club can survive without us, and the sooner we realise that, the better.”

Zungu has since confirmed that Dladla has been completely removed from the technical team.

“Dladla is still on our payroll until the end of the season,” Zungu told Sportswire.

Dladla had already been set to leave Usuthu at the end of the campaign after the club decided not to renew his contract.

The former Richards Bay FC coach had, according to earlier reports from Sportswire, allegedly undermined Zwane with intentions of taking over as head coach.

It is understood that tensions escalated during a team meeting, creating a strained environment within the club. Sources further indicated that Zwane raised concerns with Zungu, alleging that Dladla was interfering with his work.

Zungu elaborated on the decision:

“He is at our disposal if we need any help from him, but he won’t be part of the technical team until the end of the season.

“In a technical environment, too many cooks can spoil the broth, and it is important to respect that.

“It is not a reflection on him alone, but on the situation within the team. We felt that too many crooks would spoil the broth.

“We will retain him as an employee until the end of the season, but we don’t expect him to interfere with the team’s work, nor do we intend to impose on him or his expertise.”

On his day-to-day involvement, Zungu added: “He is not part of the technical team and does not interfere with daily operations, including match days.”
