Mdunyelwa Issues Rallying Cry Ahead Of Durban City Clash

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Zuko Mdunyelwa has rallied his teammates to maintain their winning momentum when they face Durban City in a crucial Betway Premiership encounter at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday.

The Brazilians head into the encounter at the top of the standings with 53 points, holding a slender two-point lead over second-placed Orlando Pirates.

As the title race intensifies, Sundowns are determined to strengthen their position and move closer to securing what would be their ninth consecutive league title, underlining their dominance in South African football.

Durban City, meanwhile, sit fifth on the table with 35 points and will approach the clash with renewed confidence after reaching the Nedbank Cup final.

With both teams highly motivated, Mdunyelwa acknowledged the challenge posed by a confident Durban City side.

“In the Durban City camp, the mood is definitely very high because they are in the Nedbank Cup final,” he said.

“We know their strengths and capabilities, so for us it is important to understand that this is an away game, and we need the three points to keep going. We have the momentum; we just have to keep going.”

The 26-year-old also called on Sundowns supporters to turn out in numbers and back the team.

“For this game at Chatsworth, I would like to ask all our fans to come out in numbers to support us because we need them to be the 12th man on the field,” he added.

“They always help us, and we are happy when we see them supporting us. They assist us a lot, especially with their singing and drums.”

With the stakes high for both sides, Tuesday’s encounter promises to be an exciting contest as Sundowns chase another step towards the title while Durban City aim to build on their recent success.
