Arendse Praises Sanoka And Pule Additions

SuperSport United assistant coach Andre Arendse believes the club has made strong signings in the transfer market, highlighting the additions of Pogiso Sanoka and Vincent Pule.

Impressively, Pule scored in SuperSport’s MTN8 quarter-final defeat to Orlando Pirates on Saturday. The former Pirates player joined SuperSport during the off season.

Young defender Ime Okon missed the game for unknown reasons and while Shandre Campbell was sold to Belgian club Club Brugge. Okon is also rumored to be heading to the exit door to Belgium.

“If you remember last season, Shandre Campbell and Okon were big part of our team last term,” said Arendse, who briefed the media as coach Gavin Hunt was sent off for descent, after the game on Saturday.

“The strides they made through the season, certain helped the team a lot. So, they would have been missed.

“But when you replace them, for example, it’s not a question they were replaced, I’m saying when you have to have someone replacing them, it’s not a bad call when you have Vincent Pule in replacing Shandre Campbell.

“I would like to have that every day. Even though Shandre was big part of us, because Shandre had goals in him, Vincent Pule also had goals in him, he proved that already in his first game of the season.

“When you also added the player like Pogiso Sanoka, there is a lot of experience there. So, we are happy with that. Sanoka brings a lot of shoring up in that defence and he also take the pressure off Tyson (Thulani Hlatshwayo) and that for me is working well so far.

“If we can combine those and keep them going and you still have Okon under him (Sanoka), Bilal Baloyi – another youngster working underneath, pushing for places, it’s always healthy for the team.”

SuperSport now has a six-week break before their opening league match against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on 14 September at Loftus Stadium, according to the league fixture list which are yet to be officially released to the public.
