Breaking: Richards Bay Suspend Sithebe With Immediate Effect

When it rains, it pours for bottom-of-the-table Richards Bay.

Sportswire has learned that midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has been suspended by the club with immediate effect.

The incident that led to his suspension occurred after their last game, a loss to SuperSport United at King Zwelithini Stadium last Friday.

Although Sithebe did not play in the match, he was present in the stands with other players. However, his words in the dressing room after the game did not sit well with the club, resulting in his suspension.

“There is a suspension in place for Sithebe, and it’s something we are dealing with,” Sithebe’s agent, Musa Sithebe, told Sportswire.

“It’s related to some comments he made in the team talk after the SuperSport game.

“When an argument broke out in the dressing room, the coaches didn’t take it well and felt he was disrespectful.

“But we are addressing the matter, and I’m trying to get to the bottom of it. I wasn’t there, so I’m gathering information from those who were to truly understand what happened.”

As Sithebe watched from the stands, Richards Bay suffered a painful defeat to SuperSport. Ronnie Gabriel’s side was awarded a penalty in the 36th minute, but Nkosikhona Ndaba missed the opportunity, which was saved by Thakasani Mbanjwa.

Despite the loss, club chairman Sifisi Biyela was impressed by the team’s performance that day. Even SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt admitted that his team was fortunate to win the match.

Sithebe joined Bay during the off-season after leaving Kaizer Chiefs. In his eight appearances across all competitions, he has yet to contribute a goal or assist.

Sithebe’s suspension comes at a crucial time for Bay, who are fighting to climb out of the relegation zone. The club has lost their last five matches in all competitions, leaving them at the bottom of the table with only five points from ten games.

Bay will face Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday at 15:30.
