Broos Names Mudau In Preliminary Bafana Bafana Squad Against Lesotho And Nigeria
Despite not having played a single match this season, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has included Khuliso Mudau in his preliminary squad.
The team is preparing to face Lesotho and Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein next month.
Sportswire has learned that Mudau’s inclusion was decided despite his ongoing contract dispute with his club, Mamelodi Sundowns. Mudau’s contract reportedly expired in June, and he is rumored to be in talks for a renewal.
Kaizer Chiefs also have players in the squad, with Bradley Cross and Md Shabalala being selected. This comes after Amakhosi won all three of their league matches this season.
Other notable players in the squad include Mohau Nkota (Ettifaq, Saudi Arabia), Siyabonga Ngezana (FCSB, Romania), and Bongokuhle Hlongwane (Minnesota United, MLS).
Victories in both matches next month would bring Bafana Bafana closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which would be their first they have qualified since 2002.
