Maduka Hails Zungu As Great Addition To Magesi

Magesi coach John Maduka has expressed his delight at signing midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu, believing that the talented player will make a significant impact on Dikwena Tsa Meetse.

Zungu, a 29-year-old midfielder, has had a chequered career, playing for several clubs including Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, Richards Bay, and Pretoria Callies.

He made his name at Stellies, where he played his best football and attracted the interest of Pirates, who signed him in the 2019/20 season.

However, his stint with the Buccaneers was marred by disciplinary issues, which led to him being loaned to Richards Bay. Unfortunately, the issues persisted, and Pirates eventually released him.

Maduka had previously attempted to sign Zungu when he was coaching Royal AM, but the deal fell through due to the club’s transfer ban imposed by FIFA.

Zungu spent the last season with Pretoria Callies, where he played 16 league games and scored one goal.

The talented midfielder recently joined Magesi and made his debut in their 2-0 loss against Mamelodi Sundowns at Seshego Stadium on Wednesday.

Maduka is thrilled to have Zungu on board, believing that his talent and experience will be a valuable asset to the team.

“Yes, I’ve always wanted Zungu, and it’s good to have Zungu in the team, ” Maduka said.

“He is going to help the team because he is a good player who can think and is very talented player. So, I believe that having him in the team is going to be a great addition.”

Despite Magesi’s recent struggles, which saw them draw two games in a row against Polokwane City and Stellenbosch, followed by a loss to Sundowns, Maduka remains positive about his team’s prospects.

“If you look at the games that we played, we played very well, especially against Stellenbosch,” Maduka added.

“So, I think it’s a working process and the boys are doing better, and they are trying their best.

“I think we just need to start scoring because there’s no game that we didn’t get chances; all games we got chances.

“What we need now is to convert those chances into goals, and once we do that, we’ll win many games.“

“It’s very important to score and win games now. I think if we can do that, we’ll be able to gain confidence and start doing well in the league.”

Magesi will look to find their first victory of the season when they take on Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday.
