Cardoso Has No Idea When Williams Will Be Back

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has provided an update about the injury of his current captain Ronwen Williams ahead of their game against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
The Bafana Bafana captain suffered his injury in their 1-0 loss against TS Galaxy earlier this month.
Dennis Onyango replaced the former SuperSport United goalkeeper and unfortunately, Onyango got a red card against Marumo Gallants. The Ugandan icon has been replaced by Jody February while serving a ban.
However, the Portuguese tactician was asked whether Williams would be available against Amakhosi or not.
“Regarding Ronwen [Williams], we don’t know when will he come back,” Cardoso said.
“We hope he recovers very quickly, but at the moment I’m waiting for something in the medical department. We hope that he comes as quickly as possible.”
As they beat Sekhukhune on Wednesday, Thapelo Morena was one of the goal scorers for Sundowns, but the Bafana Bafana defender was hooked off before the second half started and replaced by Khuliso Mudau, which is good news for the club and Bafana Bafana respectively.
Cardoso revealed why they took off the former Bloemfontein Celtic speedster defender.
“[Thapelo] Morena and [Khuliso] Mudau as you know, we lost them in the game that we played here, and they both had a period of recovery with our medical department and fitness coach working very well with them. So, I’m very thankful for them for what they did,” said Cardoso.
“Thapelo, in the last three matches, was playing with a little bit of risk. I took out as possible as I could. In this game, I felt that it was important also to manage him.
“He is not injured but he felt that extra fatigue and I think we could not risk. So, we were supposed to put already Mudau even before the second half around 40 minutes. I’m happy that he is back and I think he will help us a lot.”
