Sundowns Show Class To Beat Sekhukhune

Mamelodi Sundowns flexed their muscles and showed quality as they beat Sekhukhune United 4-2 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was the fourth time Sundowns have scored four goals in this month in a league match, with the total in all competitions equating to 24 goals.
They scored four against Golden Arrows, four against Orlando Pirates, four against TS Galaxy which came in their previous match before Sekhukhune’s hammering.
Miguel Cardoso’s side, who appear to have no match this season yet again, move to 51 points after 19 matches, 15 points clear of second placed Orlando Pirates, who though have four games in hand.
By the look of things, it will take an army effort to stop Sundowns from coasting to another league title, having won it seven times in a row. They are just a class apart from the rest in the league.
The Brazilians started this game very well and were dominating the first 20 minutes. Bafana Bafana defender Thapelo Morena got the goal in the 16th minute with a great assist from another Bafana player Jayden Adams.
Babina Noko pulled up their socks after Sundowns’ goal and started playing well. The home side got an equalizer in the 35th minute through Orlando Pirates’ loanee Katlego Otladisa following Jody February’s poor save after Shaune Mogaila’s cross. Three minutes later, the Premiership champions got a second goal through the Argentinean defender Lucas Suarez, who netted what was his first goal for the club.
The Portuguese tactician Cardoso made an early subs before the second half even started, introducing Khuliso Mudau for Morena. Sundowns continued with their dominance as they got a third goal in the 54th through Lucas Ribeiro Costa after Iqraam Rayners hit the turf when he was about to shoot. After Ribeiro’s goal, the Brazilians introduced Arthur Sales for Rayners.
The Brazilian attacker drilled a fourth goal from outside the box, having been given space to power. The home side did not lie down and they scored the second through former Sundowns striker Keletso Makgalwa.
The Namibian striker Peter Shalulile should have put his name on the score sheet to score the fifth for his side after 75 minutes, but Badra Ali Sangare fouled him and the referee waved away the penalty appeals.
This was the second time Sundowns defeated Babina Noko this season as they beat them 3-0 in the first round last year. This was an ideal preparation for Sundowns as they host Kaizer Chiefs at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
