Chiefs Announce Nabi As New Coach
Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed the appointment of Nasreddine Nabi as their new head coach ahead of next season.
Nabi’s arrival comes after a search for a permanent successor to Cavin Johnson, who served as caretaker coach following the dismissal of Molefe Ntseki last October. Chiefs finished the 2023/24 DStv Premiership in a historic 10th place, their worst-ever finish in the PSL era.
“We are delighted to welcome coach Nasreddine Nabi to the Kaizer Chiefs family. We are happy to have you with us, coach,” the club announced in a statement.
Nabi arrives with a mandate to turn things around at Naturena. While he narrowly missed out on the Moroccan league title with FAR Rabat last season, ultimately falling to former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer’s Raja Casablanca, Nabi brings a wealth of experience.
Zinnbauer’s Casablanca side completed the season undefeated in the Botola league and also defeated Nabi’s FAR Rabat in the Throne Cup final on Monday marking Nabi’s final game with the Moroccan club.
The details of Nabi’s contract with Chiefs haven’t been disclosed, but it is believed to be a two-year deal with an option to renew. He flew to Turkey to meet the players and management at the Soweto Giants’ pre-season training camp where he was announced by Chiefs sporting director Kaizer JR Motaung.
