Chiefs Confirm Near Coach Announcement

Following the release of four players on Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed they are nearing the announcement of a new coach.

Chiefs parted ways with Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Sifiso Hlanti, and Siyethemba Sithebe after a dismal campaign that saw them finish 10th in the DStv Premiership – their worst placing ever.

This underwhelming performance prompted action from the Soweto giants as they aim to rectify their shortcomings and return to competing for major trophies, having fallen behind rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nasreddine Nabi is expected to be officially unveiled by the club in the coming weeks, tasked with reviving Kaizer Chiefs’ past glories. Nabi, who led Tanzanian side Young Africans to the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup final, currently manages FAR Rabat. Under his guidance, the Moroccan club achieved a second-place finish in the Botola league.

However, Nabi’s focus has shifted to the Throne Cup final, where FAR Rabat is set to face Raja Casablanca on 1 July – the reigning Botola league champions. Rumors suggest a potential postponement of the Throne Cup due to the passing of the Moroccan King.

“As we prepare for the new season, the club will soon announce the new coach and technical team,” a Chiefs statement confirmed.

“This team will be tasked with guiding the club back to winning ways as we approach our 55th anniversary next season.”

In the meantime, Nabi’s assistant coach, Fernando Da Cruz, is currently assessing the squad after being recommended to join the technical team.
