Chiefs Star Receives Special Praise From Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has heaped praise on Gaston Sirino who walked away with the man of the match award in their 4-0 win against SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

After yet another telling display for Amakhosi against Matsatsantsa A Pitori in the Carling Knockout Cup last 16, Nabi was full of praise for Sirino.

“Sirino indeed helped us on Saturday, and we thank him for that. But today, he was a player who was not at his maximum fitness because he was coming from an injury,” said Nabi.

“He hasn’t trained a lot in the last few days, but he showed character, He showed that he can make a difference sometimes.”

The Uruguayan, who was handed number 10 shirt and the wore at Mamelodi Sundowns whom he left at the end of last season, has been one of the most consistent players in the PSL since he arrived at the Naturena-based club.

So far this season, Sirino scored two goals, including the opener on Saturday, and has registered three assists in a short time.

Chiefs will face Sundowns, Sirino’s former club, in the quarter finals after the draw was done following the other matches on Sunday.

These two superpower clubs have already met this season, which was before the October international break, with Sundowns winning 2-1 at FNB Stadium.

It was a game that became one of the most talking points due to poor officiating in the PSL, as Chiefs were fined R150,000 by the PSL after its fans threw bottles inside the pitch.
