City Sack Coach Ertugral After Dismal Run

Cape Town City has confirmed the dismissal of coach Muhsin Ertugral following a series of disappointing results.
Ertugral was appointed in January, succeeding Eric Tinkler. He initially made a strong start, securing victories in his first two matches against Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
These wins earned Ertugral the PSL Coach of the Month award for January.
However, the team’s form subsequently declined, culminating in a loss to Marumo Gallants at Athlone Stadium on Saturday, which proved to be his final match in charge.
“After technical discussions, the club and Muhsin Ertugral have agreed mutually to part ways. The decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible. We thank Muhsin for his professional and earnest contribution,” City stated in a press release on Monday.
Ertugral departs from a Cape Town City side that has failed to win in their last 10 matches across all competitions, suffering seven defeats. The team did not secure any away victories under his leadership.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach had been appointed until the end of the season, with an agreement to transition into a technical director role thereafter.
However, the club’s statement on Monday did not clarify whether this agreement remains in effect.
During his tenure, Ertugral managed 14 matches, recording three wins, three draws, and eight losses.
