Da Gama Vows To Win Remaining Games
Magesi coach Owen Da Gama says they will try by all means for them to win all their remaining games in the league, especially home games.
This was after Dikwena Tsa Meetse suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Despite that Magesi won the Carling Knockout last year, the 2023/24 champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship are struggling in the league, and they are in position number 15.
Da Gama has a plan for his club to be out where they are currently.
“I think the most important thing is to go back to watch the game [we played against Chiefs], and try to fix the problems so that they can learn,” Da Gama said.
“They know that two or three results will make us turn the corner. We have been doing well at home but not traveling very well.
“So, we’ve got three home games in a row now and I think that’s a good motivation for them knowing that we are at least trying to win games. I think we’ll do as much as we can to win these three home games, and they know that one game is a difference because it will make a big difference in the league.
“We are going back to try to win all these games, and hopefully all our injured players will be back soon. I think if they can come back that will help us a lot because we have a lot of games.”
Meanwhile, there’s a saga of Royal AM in the league as all their games are currently suspended until further notice. The former Highlands Park tactician said that this is not part of their thinking because they have a job to do to avoid relegation.
“In the back of the minds, there’s always that thing of the Royal AM, but what we’re looking at now is that we are at the bottom of the log,” Da Gama said.
“That’s how we see it. We take it from that perspective that we are at the bottom of the log and need to get out there. We need to move out of that position.
“What’s fortunate is that we’ve closed the margin a little bit, so we are behind by two or three points. Two wins could make a very big difference there.”
Dikwena Tsa Meetse will now host the KZN-based side Richards Bay in their next league game at Seshego Stadium on the 11th of March, in what would be a six-pointer.
