Dladla Reacts To Caretaker Role At Durban City

Durban City coach Pitso Dladla says he is simply doing his job after securing another victory in his second stint as caretaker coach.
Dladla has been placed in temporary charge following the dismissal of Sinethemba Badela.
Badela was shown the door after just three matches due to concerns over the team’s style of play. Under Dladla’s guidance, City responded with a 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy at Chatsworth Stadium on Friday.
It marked the second time Dladla has won a match as caretaker, having previously led the side to victory over Orbit College in December after the sacking of Gavin Hunt.
“It’s just a job; it’s about understanding the role of a coach and playing the way it’s supposed to be,” said Dladla.
“When you need to step in, you give your best and leave a mark. All I can say is that maybe you also need a good heart — blessings do come when you are given an opportunity.
“When the chance has not yet arrived, you have to accept it and not rush. Be patient and your time will come. What’s important is that when you are given a job, you give it your all.”
Dladla has been with the club for some time and was part of the technical team that secured topflight promotion last season by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where he assisted Simo Dladla.
Simo Dladla departed during the off-season to AmaZulu and was replaced by Hunt.
Despite changing coaches twice, Durban City remain unbeaten at Chatsworth Stadium.
Dladla says the aim is to turn the venue into a fortress.
“We want to make Chatsworth Stadium a place where other teams struggle,” he said.
“In any league, if you want to do well, these are the types of games you have to win. But at the end of the day, especially in Friday’s game against Galaxy, the credit goes to the players.
“I feel for the players because they put in a huge shift and suffered. We were forced to defend deep, but I’m happy we managed to score the second goal and kill the game.”
