Former Sundowns Star Joins Babina Noko

Sekhukhune United have officially completed the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns star Rivaldo Coetzee, signaling a major intent to secure a spot in continental football next season.

The 29-year-old joins Babina Noko as a free agent, ending a nine-month hiatus following his departure from Chloorkop at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

A Serial Winner Arrives

Coetzee brings an unmatched winning pedigree to the Sekhukhune dressing room. During his tenure with the Brazilians, the versatile defender-midfielder amassed 12 major trophies, including a staggering seven league titles.

In an official statement released on Friday evening, the club expressed their enthusiasm for the new arrival:

“We are pleased to introduce the newest member of the Babina Noko family, Rivaldo Coetzee. His experience and quality are well-documented, and we are excited to see him get started.”

Tactical Impact and the CAF Race

Coetzee’s arrival is expected to provide immediate stability and tactical flexibility as Sekhukhune United pushes for CAF Confederation Cup qualification.

The club currently occupies fifth position on the Betway Premiership table, sitting on 35 points from 23 matches. His leadership at the back will be crucial as the season enters its final, high-pressure phase.

Derby Debut?

The signing comes just in time for a massive weekend in the province. Sekhukhune’s next assignment is a high-stakes Limpopo Derby against Magesi FC this Saturday. All eyes will be on the team sheet to see if the new acquisition makes an immediate appearance to help Babina Noko build on their momentum.
