Klate Joins Hunt To Depart Durban City

Following the sacking of Gavin Hunt last week, Durban City has confirmed the departure of Daine Klate.
Klate served as the club’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) coach after being brought in by Hunt during the off-season.
With Hunt dismissed last Monday following the loss to Orlando Pirates, Klate’s position at the club became untenable.
The Durban-based side released a statement on Thursday:
“Durban City FC can confirm the departure of DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) head coach, Daine Klate.
“The club and Coach Klate have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.
“Klate played a key role in establishing our DDC squad during the club’s transition into South Africa’s top flight.
“His dedication and expertise were vital in building a competitive foundation for our youth team.”
Club chairman Mr Farook Kadodia also expressed his gratitude: “On behalf of everyone at Durban City FC, I sincerely thank Daine for his exemplary professionalism and commitment during this foundational period. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
Meanwhile, the club has begun the process of appointing a new DDC head coach and will communicate further updates in due course.
Durban City reaffirmed its commitment to developing its youth structures and providing a clear pathway to the first team.
Klate leaves the side sitting 12th on the DStv Diski Challenge log with 13 points from 13 matches.
