Lafitte Not Ruling Out Involvement Of Jaisen Clifford In Carling Cup Final

Marumo Gallants coach Alexandre Lafitte is not ruling out Jaisen Clifford’s involvement in the Carling Knockout Cup final against Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. 

Clifford, who joined Gallants in July 2025 as a free agent, has emerged as an integral part of Lafitte’s plans at the Bloemfontein-based side.

“I think we have to wait, but we have all the players available,” said the Frenchman when asked about Clifford’s availability for Saturday.

The 29-year-old is set to be assessed by Gallants’ medical team ahead of the encounter against Pirates.

The winger, who had seven goals and one assist in 33 appearances at Bulgarian side Sportiest Svoge last campaign, has already scored against his side’s cup final opponents this season, to hand the side from Bloemfontein a shock 2-1 victory over the Soweto giants in August.

The Supersport United academy graduate was also on hand to help his side secure a 1-1 draw against Magesi FC this past weekend, with his coach hoping to count on him this weekend as well.

Both Clifford and his boss, who is a year younger than him, will be taking part in their first Carling Knockout final.

“I am very excited, I am very happy to play this final, but honestly, I am focused and concentrated on helping the club and the team to win the trophy. But it is a very important moment for me, for the team, for the club, and for that I want to respect Marumo Gallants on Saturday, and I hope we will win the trophy,” added the Frenchman.

Having already caused an upset against Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch, and Golden Arrows in the early stages of the competition, Clifford, his boss, and the rest of the troops will be hoping to inflict misery on the Sea Robbers.
