Lebitso Wonder Derby Strike Wins Goal Of The Month
Thabiso Lebitso’s wonder strike for Orlando Pirates against Kaizer Chiefs early last month has seen him claim the DStv Premiership Goal of the Month award for February/March.
The right-back, who was signed from Chippa United in the January transfer window, released a thunderbolt strike as Pirates beat their huge rivals 3-2 in an entertaining Soweto derby match at FNB Stadium.
Lebitso’s goal saw him join a few players who have scored on Derby debut such as Benni McCarthy and Keagan Dolly just to name a few.
“The right-back welcomed himself to the Bucs’ faithful with a stunningly taken goal from outside the 18-yard box in his side’s 3-2 win over rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby and saw his goal voted,” said the PSL statement.
“Teboho Mokoena came very close to getting the award for his screamer against SuperSport United last month.
“For their recognition, all the winning coaches and players will each receive a trophy and R7,000 courtesy of league sponsors, DStv.”
Lebitso joins Pule Mmodi (August), Samir Nurkovic (September/October), and Sipho Mbule (November/December) to scoop this award this season.
