Magesi Part Ways With Maduka Amid League Struggles

Magesi has confirmed the departure of head coach John Maduka.
As previously reported by this website last month, Maduka had been under pressure following a string of poor results. The Limpopo-based club has opted for a coaching change as they currently sit at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table.
Magesi have collected just 11 points from 15 matches and are on a seven-game winless run. Their last victory came on 18 October, when they defeated TS Galaxy 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The former Royal AM coach missed the club’s last two matches, including the 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates, where he watched from the stands. On that occasion, Abran Nteo took charge of the team from the bench. The same scenario unfolded this past weekend in their 1-0 loss to Upington in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32, with Maduka absent once again.
“Thank you, Coach John Maduka, for your dedication and service to Magesi FC. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours,” the club said in a statement.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic captain was appointed head coach in July, replacing Owen da Gama, who parted ways with the club at the end of last season after failing to agree on new contract terms with the Limpopo outfit.
According to reports, Allan Freese is set to take over as the new Magesi head coach.
