McCarthy Eyes CAF Spot And Emotional Bloemfontein Return

Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy has expressed excitement and confidence ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against Siwelele at Toyota Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Following a 1–1 draw against Orlando Pirates, Chiefs remain in third place with 47 points after 25 matches.
They will be aiming to reach the 50-point mark and strengthen their hold on third position, which would secure qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Chiefs head into the match unbeaten in their last six games, while the Bloemfontein-based side has been inconsistent over the same period and currently sits in 11th place with 29 points from 25 matches.
“Playing in Bloem is not anything extra special, but it’s a bit sentimental for me because it’s where my father started playing,” said McCarthy.
“I’m looking forward to it, and I’m feeling confident. Siwelele are a good team—they managed to hold Pirates to a draw, and we shouldn’t overlook the individuals in their squad. It will be a tough game.”
Chiefs haven’t lost a league match in Bloemfontein since 2023, making Toyota Stadium a “happy hunting ground” for the Glamour Boys.
With five matches remaining for the Glamour Boys in the 2025/26 campaign, McCarthy emphasised the importance of strong performances and securing victories in every game.
“As we approach the end of the season, we need to give our all as a team and make sure we collect three points in every match,” he added.
