Motaung: We Must Learn From Spurs.

University of Pretoria coach Tlisane Motaung emphasizes the importance of their final DStv Premiership playoff match against Richards Bay this Saturday (15:00).
Both teams are tied for first place with four points, but unlike Richards Bay who have one more game remaining, this is AmaTuks’ last chance to secure promotion.
“One match left and we are playing at home against Richards Bay, it won’t be easy, we have to go in and fight…it’s now or never,” declared Motaung whose side also featured in the 2022 but lost out to Moroka Swallows, who said retained its status.
This fixture comes after a 1-0 defeat for AmaTuks in the reverse leg last weekend. A win this time, coupled with a favorable result in the final match between Richards Bay and Baroka, could still see them clinch promotion.
“The only thing that we need in the next match is three points at home and at least we have home advantage and then we take it from there,” he insisted.
He highlighted the cautionary tale of Cape Town Spurs, who achieved promotion last season but were immediately relegated due to lack of preparation time. “We must learn from Cape Town Spurs. Last year Cape Town Spurs went in through playoffs as well so we must borrow from them and believe that we can do it,” said Motaung.
A return to the PSL topflight holds immense significance for the University of Pretoria. “Promotion is vital for the institution, the club, and everyone involved,” concluded Motaung. Nine years have passed since AmaTuks last played in the PSL, and the entire team is hungry for a return.
