Pirates Complete Signing Of Norwegian Striker
Orlando Pirates has confirmed the signing of Norwegian striker Sebastian Pedersen from second-tier side Sogndal Fotball to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Buccaneers have been actively searching for attacking reinforcements following the departure of Tshegofatso Mabasa, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Stellenbosch FC.
Pedersen’s arrival adds crucial depth to Abdeslam Ouaddou’s frontline, which currently features Evidence Makgopa, Yanela Mbuthuma, and Boitumelo Radiopane.
With Pirates aiming for a deep run in the CAF Champions League alongside defending their domestic treble, the Soweto giants turned to the former Norwegian youth international.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Sebastian Pedersen from Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball,” read an official club statement released on Sunday.
“The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the Club holding an option to extend for a further season. He becomes the newest addition to Abdeslam Ouaddou’s squad as the Buccaneers prepare for a competitive season ahead.
“Pedersen arrives from one of Norwegian football’s great talent factories. The blonde bomber is cut from that cloth, having featured at junior national team level from U15 all the way to U21. In terms of his style of play, Pedersen is considered a one-touch finisher rather than a bulldozer. He has recorded 51 goals in his last 117 matches.”
The 27-year-old center-forward brings a proven goalscoring record to Parktown, boasting 51 goals in his last 117 competitive appearances, and will look to hit the ground running when Pirates open their league season against Milford FC next weekend.
